Dai-Kannon

Last week, we visited this giant white Buddha statue which looms over the northern part of the city. It's about 100 meters high, and we could take the elevator up to the 'top' which actually reaches only up to the level of the chest. From there, we could see the four corners of the Sendai city through the small submarine windows. It was too bad that we could not be outside, like the Statue of Liberty, but the view was impressive nevertheless. Sendai, Japan Avril 2009
