I was very fortunate to see these special primates up so close, especially with the tiny baby tucked under the mother's belly.

Le Phare de l'Île Louët
My 200mm (weighing about a ton on my back) was definitely worth lugging around, given that this island with the lighthouse is about 500m off the coast.

This port city in the Gulf of Morbihan in the southern Brittany has a charming old town with narrow streets filled with colorful colombage (half-timbered) houses like this one.

Las Meninas
I discovered this Valencian-born Spanish artist whose work was displayed on different floors of the Chambord castle. I absolutely loved the contrast of his pop artsy style and the sensuality in his work with the intricate details of the historical building architecture. This particular sculpture is inspired by Diego Velázquez's Las Meninas.

Love bugs
I ran into these little guys while hiking near the Plaine Joux area carpeted with summer flowers. They were holding onto the flower pretty hard and were swinging back and forth by the wind, a bit like a poppy. They looked like they were having fun.

This boat started out ahead of the rest of the group in the beginning, but ended up with the 6th place, due to the penalty for OCS (On Course Side at start).

Orchids & blinds
This is one of my precious orchid collection in our kitchen. This particular one re-flowered for the first time under my care, so I'm super excited to see these beauties blossoming. Somehow I liked the morning sunlight on the white petals and the blinds effect in the background.

Poppy Field
On our way to Morges last weekend, we saw this crazy poppy field next to the autoroute. I've never seen such a dense group of poppies growing in a marshland. Felt just like in a dream.

zen too
This past Saturday, we got up extra early to chase after Le Bol d'Or, literally meaning the "Golden Cup" which is an annual sailing competition on Lac Leman. It was quite exciting to see all the fancy yachts struggling against no wind. This boat had the name "zen too", moving fairly ahead of the group from the start.

Through the window
A part of our trip to Jura this holiday weekend included a stop at the exposition of the paintings by Robert Hainard, a nature painter, and other animal artists paying tribute to him. The moment I stepped into this old-farm converted gallery, I fell in love with his works and was fascinated by the animal paintings. However, as much as the exhibition was captivating, I could not help marveling at the exterior view through some of these wooden windows.

Ski jump
This impressive ski jump stadium on the Holmenkollen hill can be spotted miles away, snaking over the city of Oslo. Just the thought of taking off from the top of this 60 m tall tower for a flight gave me jitters. You can find a safer version here.

Le Sorbier sous la neige
Les Sorbiers, also known as the rowan trees in English, were abundantly decorating our alpine neighborhood with their unusually bright red berries this season. Here, I tried to paint the tree covered with a veil of snow, from a low vantage point. I find the snow a difficult subject in general, and it turned out to be tricky to convey its form especially against the pale background. It definitely needs more experimenting with the palette.

Yonghe Gong (Tibetan Lama Temple)
This place is a true sanctuary in the midst of the hustle and bustle in Beijing. The entire neighborhood is filled with the soothing smell of the burning incense being offered as prayers in all corners of the temple. Here's an empty chair for a temple guardian who decided to take a break.
